Seattle. First post.

In July I was present for a monumental mile stone: the marriage of one of my childhood best friends; the first of many to come. The wedding took place back home, which gave me the opportunity to reunite with many of my dearest friends. I won't write about it all in one post, that would be vacation image overload, so I will start with the wedding.

The bride: I've known Megan since we were twelve years old; she was the new girl in class. We bonded over the course of the school year and became good friends.
The wedding: an intimate ceremony, with Megan and Damien's closest family and friends. The setting was beautiful- a peninsula in Everett overlooking the bay. It rained most of the day, but let up for the wedding. So typical for the Pacific Northwest.

These are some of my favorite photos recently taken of my family and me. And one of the rare photos I have with my dad. He was always the one behind the camera when I was a kid, so I treasure every picture I get with him these days.

More to come!

Funny thing...

Now that it has been three months since I last posted, I have so much material that I'm not sure where to begin-- so I'll start in the middle. At the very beginning of summer, a good friend of mine hosted a BBQ on her beautiful deck that overlooks parts of Lincoln Park. It was a wonderful night of yummy food, good company and Hamms. At the time we were bummed that the weather was still in the 60s and 70s (although we are wishing it was now!), but it allowed me to wear this heavier dress:

I adore this vintage dress I bought from a tiny vintage boutique called Land of the Lost. It is tagless, so it was a 50/50 chance it would fit when I grabbed it off the clothes rack. Lucky for me, it fits like a glove :) I first wore it to my college graduation, so I was happy to have an occasion to wear it again.

I love the lime green embroidery. I like to think that some young fashion-ista in the late 60s/early 70s wore this dress. *Please note that I have no idea when this dress was made, the decades previously mentioned are just my logical guess. If you think/know when it was made, please share!

Me and Sarah from Second City Slicker. She's a married woman now!

Gorgeous views from the balcony.

Hope your week is starting off well!

I promise I was never a slacker...

I can't believe the last time I posted was in May...I don't know what happened. Life I guess, and me being lazy. I never used to be that way. In school I was always go go go go go! But since I've graduated (it's been a year!) I've felt less rushed to get things done... which I think is good, considering my four hectic years of undergrad, but its taken its toll on this poor blog. I kept pushing posting back, and back, to the point where I just stopped. This blog was created as an outlet and its time for me to step up and utilize it.

So were do I begin? Well, since May, the biggest changes have included being in one of my best friend's wedding and moving into an adorable studio. I've now been employed for 8 straight months (success!). I also turned 24...that one isn't so exciting. But,  I think its going to be a good year. I gave myself a 24 birthday resolution, and that is to embrace all that Chicago has to offer. My plan is to attend more shows, more plays, more independent film, more bars, more restaurants. You get where I'm going here. I'm hoping to document some of these experiences. I hope it inspires you to take advantage of what your city or town has to offer.
